Cleanliness, the half of faith

As a Madarsa student I was made to learn forty Hadiths in my childhood, I remember the third one of these forty Hadiths was "Cleanliness is half of Faith" (Sahih Muslim). We as Madarsa students had to put these precious quotes in our practical life and we tried to do, but nowadays I see the Muslim people the most dirtiest and nastiest people of the world (at least Indian Muslims).

Here in India every Muslim locality in every city is the most dirtiest place in the city, the streets of these Muslim majority areas are narrow and full of filth and garbage. The roads are shabby and flooded with raw sewage. For example, take Dharavi, a slum area in Mumbai and probably the largest slum area in the world has largest population of Muslims than any other religion.  It is not that only uneducated and villager Muslims are nasty, take Chandni Chowk, most of highly educated Muslim Delhiites belong to this area, and the area if you see, is the dirtiest and densest place in all over Delhi. Go to Hyderabad most of population is Muslim yet you'll find they don't have any interest, any curiosity to keep themselves and their area clean.

Is it what Islam teaches us? Is it what our beloved Prophet told us to do? no, surely not! We are"Half Muslims", or I doubt we are not even half Muslims, because we would be half if we would follow all the other teaching besides cleanliness; but we have already destroyed our half faith and the other half, we are keen to destroy it too.

A Hadith about punishment of grave says:

"two people were punished in grave because one of them used to do calumny and other one never saved himself from being soiled with his urine,"    

Another Hadith says:

To remove troublesome things like thorns and bones from the road is Sadqah (charity).

 but nowadays the Muslim locality streets being most filthy and dirty yet no one is interested to do Sadqah, to do charity without spending any penny.

It's a matter of extreme sadness that we have forget what Islam taught us, what our lovely prophet instructed us to do. The prophet who did not even permitted us to put the rone towards the open way who always preferred cleanliness and instructed to make our streets wider and cleaner has no value to us today, his teachings have no meaning to us.

 This disobedience and disinclination towards true teachings of Islam has left very severe effects on our condition. A Muslim's image to the modern world is that of a terrorist, a male chauvinist, a cruel, psychopath, emotionless person.

While most of the Muslims live hand to mouth and treated worse than animals we are still sleeping.  Wake up my brothers and sisters, and show them what is Islam, what a Muslim is!
